Ensuring traffic safety during the National Day holiday

06:53, 26/08/2025

The National Day holiday on September 2, 2025, will last for four days (from August 30 to the end of September 2), and traffic routes passing through Dong Nai province are expected to face heavy vehicle pressure. This situation requires the proactive and decisive involvement of all levels of government and functional agencies to ensure traffic safety and smooth travel for the public.

The traffic police force of Dong Nai Provincial Police has launched a peak campaign to ensure traffic order and safety, contributing to the absolute security of Party congresses at all levels, toward the 14th National Congress of the Party, and commemorative activities marking the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution, National Day on September 2, and the 80th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Peoples Public Security. Proactively developing plans

From early August 2025, recognizing the urgent task of ensuring traffic safety during the National Day holiday, the Dong Nai Provincial Traffic Safety Committee, in coordination with the Provincial Police, Department of Construction, and local People's Committees, developed a specific action plan. The plan focuses on strengthening traffic patrols and controls along key routes and ensuring sufficient passenger transport capacity.

In particular, the Dong Nai Provincial Police requested the Traffic Police Department to mobilize the maximum number of personnel to ensure comprehensive patrol and control coverage during the holiday. Working groups are arranged to conduct continuous 24/7 patrols on key routes, ready to handle unexpected situations such as traffic collisions, congestion, or serious accidents. Many checkpoints are set up at provincial entrances and exits, toll booths, and major intersections to check alcohol levels, speed, vehicle documents, especially for passenger cars and trucks.

Colonel Tran Anh Son, Deputy Director of Dong Nai Provincial Police, emphasized: Not only will the traffic police force throughout the province patrol and control, but they will also support people to travel safely on the road. At the same time, functional forces will coordinate to guide people on safe travel routes, congested locations, slippery roads, etc., through news agencies and official social media pages.

Along with that, from mid-August 2025, the Department of Construction coordinated to review all "black spots" for traffic accidents and inadequate traffic organization points in the area. Locations where collisions frequently occur are supplemented with speed bumps, additional flashing warning lights, lane dividers, widened roads, or upgraded drainage systems to prevent flooding and slipperiness. Damaged and degraded road sections are urgently repaired, potholes are patched, and road surfaces are improved before each holiday.

According to a representative of the Department of Construction, just before the National Day holiday begins, the unit will strengthen inspections of technical conditions, business licenses, and operating schedules of passenger transport enterprises. Vehicles that do not meet safety standards, carry more people than regulated, or violate driving time regulations will be strictly handled.

On August 23, the Dong Nai Provincial Police sent 20 traffic police officers and soldiers to support ensuring order and traffic safety at the ceremony commemorating 80 years of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2 in Hanoi. This force has experience in leading convoys and commanding traffic and will directly participate in traffic diversion and protecting domestic and international delegations.

Innovating control methods

Despite implementing many solutions to control traffic safety order, the actual traffic situation in Dong Nai still faces many challenges due to increasing vehicle pressure and inadequate infrastructure. In addition, a portion of road users have poor awareness, and many violations still occur.

In the first half of August 2025 (from July 31 to August 13), Dong Nai traffic police handled more than 4,100 traffic violations. As a result, 665 vehicles were impounded, and over 10.9 billion VND was collected for the state budget. In addition, 89 drivers had their licenses revoked, and 368 cases had penalty points deducted, demonstrating the authorities’ strong determination in handling violations.

Given the situation, the Dong Nai Provincial Police directed the Traffic Police Department to establish and deploy inter-provincial working groups on National Highway 1. These groups operate flexibly, with close coordination between police units and inter-provincial, closed-loop patrols along the entire section of National Highway 1 passing through Dong Nai province. This force not only focuses on controlling "hot spots" but also moves flexibly on the road, promptly detecting and handling illegal acts on the traffic route.

Notably, the Ministry of Public Security has directed local police to strengthen patrols, control, and strictly handle violations of traffic safety orders, especially alcohol concentration and speed violations. Units must resolutely prevent and handle acts that cause public disorder, illegal racing, and resistance to public officials. At the same time, functional forces need to strengthen traffic diversion and regulation to ensure safety and smooth traffic during the National Day holiday.
