(ĐN)- In the first quarter of 2025, Dong Nai recognized 10 additional communes as model new rural areas (NTM), exceeding the target set for the entire year. Notably, many of these model communes are located in remote areas with low starting points, yet they achieved impressive results by focusing on agricultural development and improving residents’ incomes.

For instance, Xuan Bac commune in Xuan Loc district), with 92% of its land being agricultural, was once barren but has transformed into a specialized farming zone for fruits and citrus trees, reaching a production value of 198 million VND/ha/year and eliminating poverty. The Sapi Hill Agricultural Cooperative played a vital role by cultivating high-value crops such as mangoes and citrus fruits.
In Tan Phu district, communes like Tra Co, Phu Loc, and Phu Xuan have advanced thanks to strategic agricultural investments. Tra Co has developed large-scale giant freshwater prawn farming and durian cultivation. Phu Loc reached an average value of VND225 million/ha/year by building export-oriented durian farming areas with organic practices.
As of now, Dong Nai has 43 recognized model new rural communes, among the highest in the country.
Beyond production, these model communes also focus on improving spiritual and living standards. In Xuan Bac, per capita income reached VND94.2 million/year in 2024. Seven out of 12 hamlets adopted smart hamlet models with 88% of residents using smartphones.
Phu Loc stands out in digital transformation: 100% of documents are digitally signed and processed online; administrative procedures are handled via the province's centralized digital system; cashless payments and mobile money services are widely implemented.
Environmental protection and public security are also prioritized. Model communes have clean and green residential areas, proper waste collection, dredged canals, and strong community participation in national security protection initiatives.
