Cao Tien Dung, chairman of the provincial government, assigned this task to the department at a Covid-related meeting on September 9, and asked the department to coordinate with other departments, agencies and local authorities to work on the plan, including regulating which activities can resume in the safe zones after September 15.
The Trade Department has to send a draft plan to the local authorities for feedback.
Regarding efforts to protect the safe zones, also known as “green zones”, Dung asked the local authorities to work out plans depending on the Covid situation in their areas and submit them to the provincial government for consideration and approval.
Dong Nai currently has 75 communes recognized as “green zones”, 27 communes as “yellow zones”, 28 as “orange zones” and 40 as “red zones”. On September 8, five new infections were detected in five communes labeled as “green zones” in the three districts of Thong Nhat, Xuan Loc and Cam My.
The chairman asked these communes to take drastic measures to track down the close contacts of those infected and keep these areas safe. He further ordered the local authorities to act in an attempt to narrow down high-risk Covid areas and turn them into safe zones.
Nguyen Hong Linh, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, noted that local authorities in the safe zones must stay on high alert to the possibility of new outbreaks.
As of yesterday, Dong Nai reported more than 31,000 cases in the latest outbreak, which hit the country in late April.
