On April 11, Dao Huy Hoang and Phạm Minh Hoang, both 28, attempted to break into a house in Xuan Loc District’s Bao Hoa Hamlet at 3am in the morning.
Truong Tien Hau, the house owner, and his wife and three children were sleeping.
The two suspects approached the daughters' room, tied them up and took their jewellery, including a gold necklace and a bracelet.
The suspects then entered the other family members' room. They threatened Hau, his wife and son with a firearm and robbed a large amount of money and gold, as well as the registration papers and key to a Honda-branded SH motorbike.
The victims were brutally assaulted in the robbery.
The two suspects fled only after the son managed to get out and shout for help.
Colonel Nguyen Van Kim, deputy director of the provincial Police Department, said the estimated value of stolen property was VND217 million (US$9,230).
The suspects were arrested shortly after.
The case is under further investigation.
