(ĐN)- Since the beginning of this year, Dong Nai Fatherland Front Committee raised VND7.2 billion to build and upgrade 217 charity houses, said Vice Chairwoman Bui Thi Lieu.
In 2017, more than VND440 billion was mobilized from organizations and individual to help the poor develop production, present health insurance cards, construct charity houses and award scholarships, etc.
In this period, the provincial Red Cross Association and its agencies also provided free eye check-ups and surgeries totaling over VND7 billion to 1,463 poor blind people.
In the coming time, the Front will continue efforts to reduce the rate of poor households by 1.3 percent by 2020.
On the occasion of the Action Month for the Poor, the Front has launched a fundraising campaign for the poor, called for more enterprises and people to join hands in helping the needy people.
