(ĐN)- A Workers’ Month was launched at a ceremony at Buu Long Tourist Area on May 1 on the occasion of the 131st anniversary of May Day with the participation of more than 5,000 delegates.
The event was attended by Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour Mai Duc Chinh, Chairman of Dong Nai provincial Fatherland Front Committee Huynh Van Toi, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Quoc Hung, and representatives from departments and agencies from districts, Long Khanh town and Bien Hoa city.
The month aims to share difficulties with workers and encourage them to make active contributions to maintaining production and local socio-economic development.
Speaking at the event, Vice President Mai Duc Chinh urged trade unions and enterprises to work to create jobs and raise workers’ living standards.
Chairman of the provincial Labor Union Huynh Tan Kiet also suggested unions and employers to make further efforts to protect workers' rights and interests and improve living and working conditions for workers in the provincial industrialization and modernization process.
Activities during the month will include talks on labour policies and laws, protection of workers' legitimate rights, and care for workers in need.
A range of sporting and cultural events are scheduled throughout the month.
