(ĐN)- Dong Nai province’s Red Cross Association and its agencies have raised more than VND55 billion for humanitarian activities during the first four months of this year.
Particularly, the association presented over 114,000 poor people, AO/dioxin victims and policy families, gave 49 wheelchairs to disabled people, awarded 1,000 scholarships to studious disadvantaged students and built more than 30 charity houses for difficult households.
In this period, the campaign of “Each organization, each individual associated with one humanitarian address” has been implemented effectively. Accordingly, more than 600 organizations and individuals have been mobilized to help over 1,900 households with especially difficult circumstances
The association also cooperated with hospitals and doctors from HCM city to provide free medical check-ups and medicine to nearly 15,000 needy people, offered free medical insurance cards for the poor.
Since the beginning of this year, the association collected over 14,500 blood units, fulfilling 45.3 percent of the year’s target.
