(ĐN)- The General Department of Traffic Police and Dong Nai Police on Thursday held a ceremony to put into operation a surveillance camera system to deal with traffic safety violations on National Highway 1 connecting HCM city and Dong Nai province.

The system includes 17 surveillance cameras, 7 monitor cameras and 4 speed measuring cameras which are installed at 28 points on the 130-km section of Highway 1 running through the province.
All data retrieved from the cameras will be displayed on monitors at the control center established at Suoi Tre Traffic Police Station under Dong Nai Traffic Police Department where they are monitored 24/7.
Notably, the surveillance system is directly connected with the system for looking up vehicle registration in order to extract information of vehicles violating traffic laws while moving on the section. The total investment for installing the system is at more than VND20 billion.
