(ĐN)- Dong Nai Red Cross Association on Oct 27 organized its sixth congress for the 2016-2021 tenure at the provincial Conference Center. Doan Van Thai, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of the Vietnam Red Cross (VRC) Central Committee, attended the event.
At the congress, the association reviewed its activities between 2010-2015 and discussed orientations and tasks for the 2016-2020 period.
Over the past five years, the association raised more than VND421 billion for relief, healthcare and humanitarian activities.
Particularly, the association held “Each organization, each individual associated with one humanitarian address” campaign, the ‘Bank of Cows’ project, which have each yielded their own successes.
The association also provided financial assistance to locals under extremely difficult circumstances, helped them to stable their lives, built charity houses, provided free medical check-ups and surgeries, organized blood donation programs and offered free meals to poor patients, etc.
The Congress elected its 11-member executive board. Ms Do Thi Phuoc Thien, was re-elected as Chairwoman of the association.
Addressing the meeting, Vice Chairman Doan Van Thai of VRC honored the association’s contributions to the province’s development through practical activities over the past years and hoped that the association would continue to do its utmost to improve the quality of activities.
On this occasion, 14 collectives and individuals received certificates of merit of VRC for their contributions to the association’s activities and 53 others got certificates of merit of the provincial People’s Committee.
