Dong Nai province police are investigating an incident in which a man was beaten unconscious following an alleged botched attempt to rob a gold shop Tuesday evening.

It happened at around 8 p.m. when a man aged around 25 barged into Kim Chau Quoc Bao gold shop in the province's capital town of Bien Hoa and used a wooden club to break a glass cabinet.

“I shouted and he ran away without stealing any gold, but he was caught and beaten unconscious by people there,” the shop’s manager, Nguyen Van Mot, said.

The police arrived soon and took the man to hospital.

But they refused to disclose his identity.
