(ĐN)- Dong Nai province’s Elderly People Association on June 6 held a meeting to review its activities in 2011-2016 period and mark the Traditional Day for the Elderly of Viet Nam (June 6).
Vice Chairwoman Pham Thi Son of Viet Nam Elderly People Association and Vice Chairman Nguyen Quoc Hung of the provincial People’s Committee attended the meeting.

Over the past five years, the association raised more than VND27 billion to provide more than 167 gifts, 10 tons of rice and 38 wheelchairs to needy people, mobilized over VND16 billion to build 668 charity houses and upgraded 65 others for poor elderly people.
Besides, the association also cooperated with agencies to offer free eye check-ups and operations to more than 7,000 olders.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairwoman Pham Thi Son highly appreciated efforts made by Dong Nai Elderly People Association and its agencies. She expressed the hope that the association would continue to help its members to access preferential loans to develop production, pay more attention to both the material and spiritual life of the elderly, creating healthy and useful playgrounds for them.
