(ĐN)- In the 2015-2016 academic year, Dong Nai province will have 22 junior high schools under the application of the new school model for Vietnam (VNEN).
Accordingly, VNEN program will be applied in grade 6. The junior high schools under the new model of teaching and studying must meet the demand of facilities, teaching staff and number of students.
Particularly, 6th graders of these schools will use textbooks published by Vietnam Education Publishing House. In this school year, VNEN will be implemented in 32 primary schools and 22 junior high schools in Dong Nai province.
VNEN program has been applied in primary schools nationwide since the 2011-2012 academic year. The program focuses on reforming teaching method and assessment to student in line with new standards. With the new model, students play a central role in the class while teachers serve as their facilitators and companions, which is different from the traditional pedagogic method.
The application of the new model as per the decree No. 29 on education reform is expected to pave the way for the next new teaching methodology.
