(ĐN)- Over the past five years, the Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs sector has created jobs for over 90,000 people and well implemented policies for laborers.
Accordingly, hundreds of thousand of laid-off workers received vocational training and unemployment relief totaling more than VND1.1 trillion.
In the coming time, the sector will continue efforts to enhance vocational training quality, creating jobs for rural laborers, contributing to increase the rate of trained workforce from 42 percent to 50 percent by the end of this year.
The sector also paid attention to revolutionary contributors and provided them with both material and spiritual support to improve their living conditions, organized ceremonies to present the State title of Vietnamese Heroic Mother to mothers whose husbands and children sacrificed their lives in the past wars for national independence.
According to the plan for 2015-2020 period, the sector will make efforts to cut the unemployment rate to below 2.4 percent, reduce the percentage of poor households according to new criteria by 1 percent, increase the rate of trained workforce to 65 percent.
Besides, the sector will come up with practical measures for executing policies related to jobs, vocational training, social welfare, labour safety, poverty reduction and care for the underprivileged.
