Police find 800kg of processed intestines

Dong Nai Police on March 5 found 300kg of animal intestines of unknown origin that had been processed with chemicals at a private food-processing establishment.

The business was owned by Trinh Quang Thai of Tan Hoa Ward, Bien Hoa City.

The investigators also found another 500kg of processed intestines that were set to be sold. In addition, they discovered 7kg of chemicals used to whiten the intestines.

According to the owner, all the intestines were soaked in chemicals to whiten them for an hour before they were due to be sold to markets in Bien Hoa City.

Pork of unknown origin

Meanwhile, on the same day, the authorities seized 200kg of pork and 35 pigs that were scheduled for slaughter at another establishment in Ho Nai Ward, which is also in Bien Hoa City. The owner could not produce papers to prove the pigs' origin or to certify that they had been quarantined.
