After 7 years of implementation, 11 provinces and cities in the river basin including HCM city, Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Tay Ninh , Long An, Dak Nong, Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan, and Lam Dong provinces conducted more inspections on the sources of waste dumps, and more regular checks on water quality in the basin.

According to Binh Duong prvincial People's Committee Chairman Le Thanh Cung, who is also chairman of the Environment Protection Committee for Dong Nai River Basin, water pollution at the Dong Nai River has gradually improved in the past seven years.
Deputies from the localities were unanimously to closely coordinate to tackle enterprises dumping effluents directly into the river in the incoming time as well as continue building more wastewater treatment systems to protect the environment at the river basin.
Vice Chairman Vo Van Chanh of Dong Nai provincial People’s Committee said that over the past years, Dong Nai has spared no efforts in environment protection, thus, the water quality of Dong Nai river has been improved and become better. The province allocates VND500 billion for waste treatment projects every year. He also suggested Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to widely inform on the press the establishments that cause pollution in the river basin.
In 2014, the Environmental Protection Committee worked effectively, raising awareness among residents, businesses and local authorities in protecting the Dong Nai River's main stream and its branches, according to Bui Cach Tuyen, deputy minister of Natural Resources and Environment.
At the session, members of the Committee agreed on changing the presidential position of the Committee for Dong Nai provincial People’s Committee in the period of 2015-2017.
