On his way to the unit, a sergeant did not hesitate jumping into a river to save a woman in Dong Nai province.
On October 4th, Chung A Di, a soldier of Battalion 3, Regiment 4, Division 5, Military Zone 7, got a ride on his father’s motorbike to the bus station. While crossing the Dinh River bridge, he spotted a woman jumping off the bridge. Without hesitation, Di jumped into the river.
Di struggled against strong currents to approach to the victim and tried his best to swim her ashore. He gave her artificial respiration and then called for support from a local medical team.
Dinh Thi Tuoi, aged 22, a native in Vinh Cuu district, Dong Nai province, wanted to kill herself after running into family trouble.
Chung A Di was born in a poor family with three children in Song Thao commune, Trang Bom district, Dong Nai province. Di is the youngest child.
Last February, Di volunteered to serve the army to contribute to the national construction and protection cause.
According to Major Tran Hoang Thang, Commissar of Battalion 3, Di always keeps in good terms with his fella troops, and is responsible for his missions.
Di’s brave deed has been commended by Division 5’s leaders. The division has also launched an emulation following his example.
