(ĐN)- Dong Nai Police Department held a meeting on July 15 to review a project on helping released prisoners to reintegrate into the community during the 2002-2013 period.
Over the past years, more than 13,700 locals completed their prison terms and some were released earlier.
Local authorities and police helped manage their needs to help them return to ordinary life. Accordingly, capital support and vocational training for former prisoners are considered as positive measures to help them seek steady jobs, not repeat the crimes and reintegrate into community.
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Bui Van Nam of Public Security highly appreciated efforts made by local police to ensure security in the province and stressed that more appropriate measures are needed to further promote the effectiveness of the assistance policies.
Chairman Dinh Quoc Thai of the provincial People’s Committee suggested local authorities and police forces to enhance cooperation to help released prisoners’ community reintegration.
