(ĐN)- More than1,200 students, 80 teachers and staff of Nam Ha High School in Bien Hoa City participated in a very special flag saluting ceremony on May 19 to celebrate the 124th birthday of the late President Ho Chi Minh and response to the “Together to protect the sovereignty of East Sea” campaign.
Each of them stuck a small national flag on their cheek. They placed their tightly holding hands onto the chests in the sacred atmosphere, singing the national anthem, holding aloft banners saying the 124th birthday of the late President Ho Chi Minh, and vociferously chanted the slogans, “Truong Sa, Hoang Sa belong to Vietnam”, “Actions for the fatherland’s islands”, etc.
Also at the ceremony, the school donated VND14.8 million, funded by its staff and students, to the “Together to protect the sovereignty of East Sea” campaign, and VND3 million to “For the beloved Truong Sa” fund which was launched by the provincial Department of Education and Training.
The same day, Trang Bom district-based Ngo Si Lien High School held a talk on “Together to protect the sovereignty of East Sea” for its students and teachers at the flag saluting ceremony.
The students and teachers were informed the issue regarding China's illegal placement of the drilling rig Haiyang Shiyou-981 deep in Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone.
At the event, the school raised more than VND6 million from its students and teachers to support naval officers and soldiers safeguarding national sovereignty at Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone.
