Chinese-Vietnamese community oppose China's illegal act

(ĐN)- Hoa (Chinese-Vietnamese) community in Trang Bom district's Bau Ham commune have expressed their opposition to China 's illegal placement of a drilling rig in Vietnam's exclusive economic zone and continental shelf.

Hoang Minh Sang, Vice Chairman of the communal Fatherland Front Committee, said that China’s act serious violates Vietnam’s sovereign right and Jurisdiction as regulated in the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), the 2002 Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC) and related agreements reached by the two countries’ senior leaders.

Lay Diu Minh, a prestigious Hoa living in the commune’s Tan Viet hamlet, expressed his confidence that China immediately withdraw its rig from Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf.

Vong A Sam, a senior Hoa living in the commune’s Tan Hoa hamlet, denounced China’s violation and demanded that China immediately withdraw its rig from Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf.

Vong Cong Lin, member of the communal chapter of Women’s Union expressed her hope that China will acknowledge its illegal act in order to contribute to preserving peace and stability for the two countries.

Bau Ham commune is home to the large number of Hoa compatriots, accounting of 70% of the commune’s total population.
