(ĐN)- As many as 13 traffic accidents occurred in Thong Nhat district in the first three months of the year, killing 12 people and injuring 7 others.
According to local authorities, increases were seen in the number of accidents (3 cases), fatalities (3 people) and injuries (3 people) in comparison with the corresponding period last year.
The highest rates of traffic accidents were found in the communes of Gia Tan 3, Lo 25 and Bau Ham 2.
Chairman Tran Van Chien of the district People’s Committee asked agencies, organizations and authorities to launch more campaigns to raise citizens’ awareness of traffic order and safety, devise plans to curb traffic accidents at black spots. He also stressed that drastic measures, including tightening the management of transportation services and vehicle capacity as well as strictly punishing traffic violators, should be made to reduce the number of traffic accident cases and related fatalities and injuries in the coming time.
