These provinces include: Quang Tri, Binh Thuan, Ninh Thuan, Phu Tho, Dak Lak, Bac Lieu and Hai Phong, Thua Thien - Hue, Nghe An, Ninh Binh, Quang Nam, Lao Cai, Ha, Ha Giang, and Yen Bai.
According to the Vietnam General Department of Road, by this moment, the Departments of Transportation in the above provinces are in the full preparation of equipment, transmission line and operational staff to put new driving licences into use in a timely manner.
By the end of September, the Vietnam General Department of Road in collaboration with FPT Corporation assisted 26 provincial Departments of Transportation to apply software systems to print and issue new driving licences, using PET material, including: Tuyen Quang Hung Yen, Quang Ninh, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Ngai and Binh Dinh, Dong Nai, Long An, Ben Tre, An Giang, Tay Ninh, Can Tho, Bac Lieu, etc.
Recently, the Hanoi People's Committee has decided to spend more than VND14 billion ($700,000) from the city budget to invest in the applications of information technology serving service management and granting new driving licences using PET material.
Accordingly, the time of grant or renewal of a driving license will only take place within five days. The grant of new driving licences will be implemented for people with expired driving licences or with lost and damaged licences.
Earlier, the Ministry of Transport said that January 7, 2013 is the deadline for all provinces and cities to grant new driving licences.
