(ĐN)- The Steering Committee of the Voluntary Blood Donation Campaign in Dong Nai province has recently held a ceremony to review its blood donation campaign in 2011 and develop new tasks for 2012.

Last year, the Dong Nai Steering Committee has worked with its member organisations to carry out many blood donation campaigns to collect 22,878 blood units, an increase of 4,478 units over the target.

According to the figure, the Dong Nai population rate taking part in the campaigns reached nearly 1 percent, mainly from the youth. The volume of annual donated blood units increase gradually against previous years.

Bien Hoa city-based Lac Hong University and Long Khanh town had a large number of volunteers joining the blood donation events.

In 2012, the Provincial Steering Board for Voluntary Blood Donation continues to raise local people’s awareness of the role of blood donation to help patients, and it expects that 25,000 blood units will be donated this year. Besides, it’s necessary to strengthen its haematology and blood transfusion network to localities to support and carry out blood donation activities effectively.

At the ceremony, 52 collectives and 75 individuals were honored for their contribution to humanitarian aid.
