(ĐN)- Dong Nai is now home to 4,286 children with disabilities, making up nearly 2 percent of the total number of disabled people in the province.
Over the past three years, thousands of disabled children have been given opportunities to access education, vocational training and health care services, and 2,107 others was offered regular allowances totaling more than VND12.1 billion.
In 2011, the province raised nearly VND20.8 billion to assist children with disabilities, of which VND12.5 billion came from the state budget, VND2.2 billion from UNICEF, and the remainder from other sources.
The province plans to help 80 percent of disabled children go to school, 90 percent will be provided with vocational training, and 100 percent will receive health care and regular allowances.
