(ĐN)- On June 22, Dong Nai Department of Labors, War Invalids and Social Affairs held a conference to review one year of implementation of the vocational training project for rural workers.
In 2010, 142 provincial communes adopted survey projects and finalized their surveys on their vocational training needs. As a result, there were more than 18,000 agricultural workers needing vocational training.
Last year, local vocational training centers trained more than 7,300 laborers, meeting 40.6 percent of the demand.
At the conference, the department’s representative also pointed out major difficulties in implementing the project. Particularly, workers in remote and mountainous areas are finding it difficult to choose an occupation to learn; many rural workers are still hesitant and wondering whether they will be able to find a suitable job after training.
The representative also stressed that it’s necessary to raise the quality and efficiency of vocational training to generate jobs and increase income for rural workers.
The project aims to provide vocational training for around 17,000 rural workers this year. It is expected that more than 100,000 rural workers will be trained when the project ends in 2020.
The province has allocated approximately VND25 billion from its budget to carry out the project.
