The Department of Performing Arts under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism approved the first runner-up of Miss Vietnam 2010 Vu Hoang My to represent Vietnam at the Miss Universe 2011 pageant in Brazil in September.

My, who was born in 1988 in Dong Nai province, is 171cm tall, 53kg and her vital statistics are 85-65-89. She is a student of RMIT in HCMC and is fluent in a number of foreign languages. She was nominated for Miss Asia Pacific 2011 but refused due to her heavy study schedule.

According to Le Diem Ly, representative of Hoan Vu Company that has the right to choose the candidate for the contest, they considered many potential candidates. But My ticked all the boxes of the ministry due to her beautiful appearance, intelligence, communication skills, self-confidence and industriousness.

Miss Universe 2011 will be held for the 60th time in Brazil. Over 80 contestants from countries and territories will participate, with the coronation night on September 12 in Sao Paulo.
