(ĐN)- A meeting to celebrate the 4th annual World Malaria Day to commemorate the global effort toward effective control and elimination of malaria was held in Tan Phu district’s Nam Cat Tien commune, Dong Nai province on April 25.

The province has achieved encouraging results in malaria control with the number of cases reduced by nearly 11 per cent in 2010, according to the Dong Nai Preventive Medicine Centre. Although the province has made efforts to reduce the number of malaria cases and deaths, as well as prevent the spread of disease, the three districts of Vinh Cuu, Tan Phu and Dinh Quan are still facing a serious threat of malaria outbreaks. Thus, the province should redouble its efforts to reduce the number of malignant malaria cases and fatal cases of this disease.
