Phan Thanh Ut, a ninth-grade student at Le Loi Junior High School in Xuan Loc district’s Xuan Truong commune, Dong Nai province strives to overcome his difficult living conditions to study well at school.
Phan Thanh Ut, a ninth-grade student at Le Loi Junior High School in Xuan Loc district’s Xuan Truong commune, Dong Nai province strives to overcome his difficult living conditions to study well at school. Ut goes to school in the morning like most every boy his age. He has his own dreams like all children - but he does not have an easy life. His family is very poor, his father is blind in both eyes and his mother recently deceased. Ut and his father live at a charity home which was built by local authorities. His sisters and brothers have married and they are living under very difficult circumstances so they cannot provide financial assistance for Ut and his father. Ut has to take care of his blind father and work everyday to help support his poor family after school.

The school is 6 km far away from his home and he usually gets up early enough in the morning to go to school. He really loves going to school and does not want to quit school.
