A ceremony was held in Dong Nai to honour 1,001 blood donors and respond to World Blood Donor Day (June 14).
Hundreds of individuals were conferred the insignia of the provincial Red Cross Association for their donations of blood, while others were presented with certificates of merit for their donations.
More than 18,000 people have registered to donate their blood at the campaigns in 2009. Accordingly, over 100 volunteers have donated blood for more than 10 times, dozens of families have had their members enthusiastically take part in the movement and hundreds of agencies, schools and enterprises have regularly held blood-giving events.
The province has witnessed an increasing trend for blood donations, which have saved thousands of patients. Last year, Dong Nai collected 14,568 units of blood, exceeding 21 percent of the yearly target.
