Dong Nai deploys project to phase out child labour

(ĐN)- Dong Nai Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs has recently had a working session with the International Labour Organization (ILO) in Viet Nam to deploy the project “Support to the Design and Implementation of National Programmes on the Elimination of the Worst Forms of Child Labour” in Dong Nai province.

(ĐN)- Dong Nai Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs has recently had a working session with the International Labour Organization (ILO) in Viet Nam to deploy the project “Support to the Design and Implementation of National Programmes on the Elimination of the Worst Forms of Child Labour” in Dong Nai province.

This ILO’s 2.5-million-Euro project aims to contribute to the prevention and progressive elimination of child labour in Viet Nam. It will be carried out in 5 provinces and cities, including Hanoi, Lao Cai, Ninh Binh, Quang Nam and Dong Nai. If the project proves successful, it will be expanded to other localities.

The 4-year project is expected to help some 5,000 child labourers get out of the bad working environment.

In Dong Nai, the project will be initially deployed in Long Thanh and Thong Nhat district, with the aim of helping 20 percent of children who are working in dangerous conditions in the localities return home or find suitable jobs after getting vocational training and schooling.
