(ĐN)- Established in 2001, Dong Nai Study Promotion Association now has more than 2,300 branches with nearly 117,000 members in schools, communes, wards, and enterprises. Its activities have been highly appreciated and widely recognized in the country only after two years of operation.
Another outstanding achievement of the association was the successful efforts to expand study opportunities for poor students. In 2005, the scholarship programme “Giving strength for student" was launched to provide financial assistance for poor university students and help them to complete their education. The annual scholarships, worth VND1.2 million each, have been awarded to students during their university years. Until now, thousands of university students in the province have received the scholarships, many of them graduated and had stable jobs. Currently, the program has been expanded to the provincial districts and town.

At present, around 97,277 million families in the province have registered to become “Studious Families” of which 31,753 million families have been recognized.
Over the past nine years, the association commended and rewarded more than 520,000 students for their excellent achievements in learning, awarded scholarships and provided supports to over 20,000 outstanding poor students and teachers, gave nearly 3,000 bicycles to disadvantage students.
Besides efforts made by the association, Dong Nai-based enterprises and organizations also actively participated in study encouragement activities. Accordingly, scholarship funds launched by Ajinomoto, TCL, Mabuchi and Bao Viet Dong Nai, Dong Nai Newspaper, Dong Nai Radio and Television, etc, helped a large number of students to continue their study.
In order to get practical results, the association has made its best efforts to promote the movement of study promotion and received active supports from local individuals. Particularly, Mr. Ho Viet Tieu in Dinh Quan district donated more than 10,000 sq.m of land to build Ngoc Dinh primary school, Mr. Tran Van Truong in Nhon Trach district offered 1,000 sq.m for the project of Vinh Thanh nursery school and teachers who took their time to give lessons for poor people at charity classes.
