(ĐN)- On March 14, Dong Nai provincial Fatherland Front Committee held a ceremony to review “Day for the poor” movement in 2007. In the past year, the committee raised nearly VND32 billion from enterprises, organizations and individuals to help the poor. Particularly, it spent VND15.2 billion to repair and build charity houses for poor households; the remaining VND16.6 billion was used to award scholarships to poor students, provide free check-ups, medicine, and gifts to elderly, disabled, orphans, dioxin victims, policy families and poor families. At the ceremony, the committee deployed the implementation of the “Day for the poor” for 2008.
