(ĐN)-Thong Nhat’s Committee for Catholic Solidarity held a conference on October 25 to review patriotic emulation movements in the 2002-2007 period.

During the past five years, Catholic followers in Thong Nhat district has made practical contributions to the cause of national construction and defence. Many charitable activities, campaigns to raise funds for the poor, the victims of natural disasters and emulation movements in production and the fight against social evils have seen the broad participation of the Catholic followers. Particularly, they contributed more than VND14 billion to build 205 charity houses, present 12,000 gifts to the poor, provide free check-ups and medicine to about 4,000 poor people,  and repair roads.

 

At the conference, Catholic priest Le Vinh Hien was elected as Head of Thong Nhat district’s Committee for Catholic Solidarity in the new tenure 2007-2012.
