A project is being carried out in the southern province of Dong Nai to help restore brocade weaving among the Chau Ma ethnic group in Ta Lai commune, mountainous Tan Phu district.

The project has so far organised three weaving training courses for around 100 local people, with half of them becoming professional weavers, earning themselves a monthly salary of between 300,000-400,000 VND.
Nguyen Thanh Liem, Director of the Dong Nai Province Industrial Promotion Centre, said the province will provide support for the building of facilities, purchasing materials and equipment, as well as for the promotion of trademarks to help local people seek stable markets.
Brocades made by the Chau Ma ethnic people are distinguished by flower, plant, bird and deit y designs.
