Charity golf raises VND54 billion for the poor

(ĐN)- On October 7, a charity golf event was held at Long Thanh Golf Club to mark the annual day to honour entrepreneurs in the country.

(ĐN)-  On October 7, a charity golf event was held at Long Thanh Golf Club to mark the annual day to honour entrepreneurs in the country. Attending the opening ceremony were Chairman of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Pham The Duyet, former Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Manh Cam, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Vo Van Mot and leaders from departments, agencies, branches in the province.

The “Vietnamese Business People Help the Poor” tournament was organized by the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the National Fund for the Poor, and Dong Nai provincial People’s Committee jointly with companies P&T, Golf Long Thanh, and Hoai Anh Le. It attracted the participation of 144 local and expatriate golfers.

After one day of competition, prizes was awarded to the winners at the closing ceremony on Sunday.

At the awarding ceremony, the organization board raised more than VND19 billion from the auction of a Bodhisattva Kwan Yin (Goddess of Mercy) statue with President Nguyen Minh Triet’s signature, a painting of Cuu Long Jewellery, and a golf set of Former deputy prime minister Nguyen Manh Cam.

The organizing board also received donations totaling VND35 billion from organizations and individuals throughout the country to help the poor. Accordingly, Tin Nghia Compay donated VND10 billion, Long Thanh Golf Club contributed VND7.1 billion, etc. Besides, each participant paid US$300 of which $200 go to the poor.

Some winners contributed a part of their prizes, including US$120,000 apartments, a Ford and 4 Mercedes cars for the Fund for the Poor.
