Cargill Cares raises over VND1 billion for charity work

(ĐN)- Lately, Cargill Vietnam, its headquarter located in Bien Hoa 2 IP, held a charity fund-raising festival named Cargill Cares 2007 in Buu Long Tourist Area, Dong Nai province. More than 2,000 people including the company’s customers, suppliers, agencies and staffs attended the event, which raised over VND1 billion.

(ĐN)- Lately, Cargill Vietnam, its headquarter located in Bien Hoa 2 IP, held a charity fund-raising festival named Cargill Cares 2007 in Buu Long Tourist Area, Dong Nai province. More than 2,000 people including the company’s customers, suppliers, agencies and staffs attended the event, which raised over VND1 billion.

 

Chanh Truong, chief representative of Cargill in Vietnam, said the Cargill Vietnam Company’s Cargill Cares Fund was established in 1996. After 11 years of operation, the fund has raised over VND11 billion to finance educational projects, mainly building schools in remote areas in Vietnam and granting scholarships to outstanding students. To date, the fund has built and hand over 18 schools. The fund also assists the students of universities with facilities to do practical and research work, helps orphans, disabled children and typhoon victims, etc. Cargill Cares Fund is contributed by Cargill Vietnam’s agencies, suppliers, customers and employees and US-based Cargill.

 

Speaking at the festival, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Vo Van Mot praised Cargill’s contributions to the community during the past years. He expressed his hope that there will be more and more enterprises participating in many such activities and programs in order to raise the living standards of poor people in the country.

 

Cargill committed to continue contributing to the community. Accordingly, two new schools will be built in 2007.
