Vietnamese students at the Tohoku University of Japan have raised 60 million VND for charity to aid Vietnamese Agent Orange victims, said the Viet Nam Agent Orange Victims Association (VAVA).

Part of the sum was handed over by the VAVA to 12 AO victims in Ha Nam province on April 3. The remaining funds will be sent to 12 AO victims in Ha Tay province, three in Bac Ninh and three in Ha Noi in coming days.

Vietnamese students studying in Japan now total around 3,000 and are also joining a campaign to give support to Vietnamese AO victims on-going lawsuit against US chemical companies which provided the toxic chemicals used in the US war.

The VAVA has also received a sum of over 3,670 USD from an American woman who served with US military during the US war. Joan Duffy, who before her death in November last year from AO related diseases, pledged the money to help Vietnamese people affected with the same health problems.
