(ĐN))- The executive board of the Dong Nai War Veterans’ Association recently held its 12th session to review its activities in 2006. Also present at the session were Bui Ngoc Thanh, Head of the Mass Mobilisation Department of the Dong Nai Provincial Party Committee and Nguyen Thi Kim Lien, Vice President of the provincial Fatherland Front Committee.
According to the report from the executive board of the Dong Nai War Veterans’ Association, the Association admitted 1,233 new members in 2006, bringing the total Association membership to 22,480. All branches of the association have been clean and strong units and nearly 96 per cent of total member households have been recognized as cultural families. The association was built in the spirit of cooperation, solidarity and support each other in achieving the goal of eliminating poverty. For the reviewed period, the Association increased its efforts to provide its members with seed and animal breeding stock and help them access to credit to enable them to expand production and increase their incomes. As a result, their support helped lift 293 households out of poverty during the last year.
