(ĐN)- Recently, at the working session with Dong Nai Public Health Association, Deputy Chairman of the Viet Nam Public Health Association Le Vu Anh affirmed that Ford organization would finance the project “Lessen the danger of dioxin infection in Bien Hoa air base”.
According to the scientists, the dioxin in the blood samples from villagers living close to Bien Hoa air base, the former U.S air base where thousands of gallons of Agent Orange had been spilled in the late 1960s, is about 145 times higher than those found in others. The highest levels of contamination were among heavy fish consumers, specifically in a family that ate a lot of fish from a stream on their property downstream from the air base. The Ford organization of the U.S pledged to finance the project “Lessen the danger of dioxin infection in Bien Hoa air base”. The project will last two year and start in early 2007.
