(ĐN)- According to information from Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial Committee for Population, Family and Children Luu Thi Phuong, 112 children in Dong Nai province have received free heart surgery from the middle of 2004 till October 2006 under the program entitled “For saving the lives of 300 children” launched by Dong Nai Child Sponsor Fund. Especially, the Fund granted more than VND 2.7 billion to offer free heart surgery for 80 children in 2006.
(ĐN)- According to information from Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial Committee for Population, Family and Children Luu Thi Phuong, 112 children in Dong Nai province have received free heart surgery from the middle of 2004 till October 2006 under the program entitled “For saving the lives of 300 children” launched by Dong Nai Child Sponsor Fund. Especially, the Fund granted more than VND 2.7 billion to offer free heart surgery for 80 children in 2006. Furthermore, the Provincial Committee for Population, Family and Children announced that additional 41 children would have heart surgery free of charge in the coming time.
According to statistic, in 2004, there were 314 children under 16 years old suffering heart disease in the province. Annually, the employees working in enterprises, institutions or organisations in the province are mobilised to contribute one day of their salaries to help save lives of poor children with inborn heart defects. However, current donations are not enough to cover heart surgery costs for the remaining children, so the Provincial Committee for Population, Family and Children welcomes donations from individuals, organizations and corporations.
