More than 550,000 students in Dong Nai begin new school year

(ĐN)- More than 550,000 students throughout the province started the new academic year on Tuesday, September 5. Secretary of Dong Nai Provincial Party Committee Tran Dinh Thanh attended the new school year opening ceremony at the province’s boarding school for ethnic minorities.

(ĐN)- More than 550,000 students throughout the province started the new academic year on Tuesday, September 5.  Secretary of Dong Nai Provincial Party Committee Tran Dinh Thanh attended the new school year opening  ceremony at the province’s boarding school for ethnic minorities.

In the school year 2006-2007, the school has enrolled 145 new students of ethnic minorities. The students have accommodation and adequate learning tools for the new school-year.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Tran Dinh Thanh noted that raising the quality of education is one of focal tasks of the province’s educational development strategy. Thanh emphasized the need for the school to further improve teaching and training quality aiming to create human resources for meeting the requirements of industrialization and modernization and socio-economic development of the province. He urged authorities at all levels to further create priority policies to help minority ethnic students. He also expressed the desire that the students would try their best to achieve good results in study and become good citizens.

* On the same day, over 800 students of Luong The Vinh Senior High School attended the new school year opening  ceremony. Attending the ceremony was Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Le Hong Phuong.

In the school year 2006-2007, Luong The Vinh school enrolled over 300 new students. In the past years, the school has educated and trained excellent students who won prizes at national and international contests.

Speaking at the ceremony, Le Hong Phuong, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, highly appreciated the outstanding achievements in teaching and studying the school had reached in the past time. He pointed out the need for the school to map out methods to improve the quality of teachers and facilities for students.

On this occasion, Luong The Vinh Senior High School has granted 20 Matsuda scholarships to its former students who are poor students and learning at the universities in HCM city and Ha Noi.

* Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee attended the new school year opening ceremony held in Ngo Quyen High School, Bien Hoa city on September 5 with its students and teachers.

For the school year 2006-2007, Ngo Quyen High school was recognized as national standard one and was awarded excellent emulation flag by Dong Nai provincial People’s Committee for its outstanding achievements during the past years. In the 2006-2007 school year, the school welcomes 515 students for the 10th grade, bringing the total number of students up to 1363.

Speaking at the ceremony, Director of the Provincial Department of Education and Training Le Minh urged efforts to improve teaching and learning quality, to continue to develop the achievements of Ngo Quyen High School and continue to position the school as the leading one in the province.

On this occasion, the Saigon Thuong Tin Commercial Bank (Sacombank) granted scholarships for 20 outstanding poor students at Ngo Quyen High School. Each scholarship is worth 1 million VND.

* On the same day, the new school year opening ceremony was held in Tran Bien High School, Bien Hoa city. At the ceremony, the schools managing board commended and rewarded excellent teachers and excellent students in the 2005-2006 school year.

At the beginning of the school year, the students contributed 10,000 notebooks. These will be donated to pupils in remote areas in Dong Nai province via Dong Nai Newspaper.
