Most foreigners in Vietnam are satisfied with living conditions in the country, a legislator has quoted a survey as saying.

Ton Nu Thi Ninh, vice chairwoman of the National Assembly (NA) Committee on Foreign Affairs, told a meeting with the overseas community September 1 that the survey indicated a majority of people polled were pleased or very pleased with living conditions.

The survey and meeting were part of a program to oversee implementation of regulations concerning foreigners living and working in the country.

Also, most spoke well of Vietnam’s exit and entry procedures although the country was not up to international standards yet in that regard.

At the meeting, some complained about the country’s high taxes and lack of professionalism among customs officials.

They also had misgivings about Vietnam’s complicated administrative formalities and unclear rules which caused a lot of misunderstanding.

Though the central government’s policies were good-intentioned, they were not always followed at the local level, they said.
