During the past five years (2001-2005), the party committee and people of Dong Nai tried their best to carry out economic, social renovation and development tasks. As a result, Dong Nai obtained great and honorable results on political, economy, education, society, security etc. Especially, the party committee and people of Dong Nai contributed their efforts to effectively implement the resolutions adopted at the 7th Provincial Party Congress and respond to patriotic emulation movements.
During the period, local government intensified emulation movements that encouraged participation of all levels of society. This resulted in a stimulation of initiative and creativeness among local people to help reach the targets of economic and social growth of the province. Thousands of exemplary individuals and units have been discovered through emulation movements. They received noble rewards from the Government and Prime Minister such as Independence Medals, Labor Medals, Emulation Flags and Certificates of Merit … They set forth a beacon to which the rest of us follows. Many achievements made by individuals and units throughout the province benefits growth of the economy and society such as Donafoods won the Vietnam Golden Star prize, owner of Truong Hai Automobile Co, Ltd Tran Ba Duong awarded Golden Cup in 2002, Pham Duc Binh of Thanh Binh Co, Ltd. with the prize of Sao Do (Red Star) in 2003 … Besides, in the field of agriculture, about 56,408 farmer households were recognized with good skills in production.

Patriotic emulation campaign was urged to accelerate the industrialisation and modernisation process in Dong Nai. Until now, the economy is capable of delivering sustained 12.7% average annual GDP which is higher against 10-12% of the target. The capacities of industry, services and agriculture-forestry-aquaculture made up 57%, 28% and 15%. Also, the average capita GDP stood at USD 770. At the same time, the province prompted continuously family planning movement in order to decrease natural booming at 1.2%. There was a fall of poverty rate at 2%. Dong Nai was experiencing rapid growth in real GDP, an increase of employment with many jobs tied to 70,000 labors and a decrease of unemployment . The province also completed to make compulsory to everyone general education at the high school graduation in 2004. All the above mentioned results marked an obvious advance on developing the provincial economic potential and making a perfect system for the economy and society in general.
During the five past years, the Provincial Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front together with relevant organizations mobilized 57 billion VND from all level of society for charity funds. In addition, 7,805 houses were financed to build for poor households and policy benefactories’ families. About 15.9 billion VND were collected for Poverty Eradication Fund which ensured that poor people have access to credit with contributions from local people. At the same time, the programme entitled “Light for the poor blind” with funding the many source has conducted cataract surgeries and treated congenital blindness for many poor people. In addition, campaign for blood domination has been launched in the province for selfless commitment to save lives. Especially, many enterprises located in the province participated actively in charity activities such as Dong Tien Garment Company, Donafoods, Sonadezi, Dong Nai Lottery Company, Dong Nai Rubber Company, Dong Nai Posts and Telecommunications Service and other foreign invested enterprises including Vedan, Tae Kwang Vina…
Development orientations for Dong Nai in the next five years (2006-2010) includes sustaining annual average GDP growth of 14 – 14.5%, population growth rate of 1.15%, poverty rate below 4%... From now until the end of 2005, the party committee and people of Dong Nai will determine to implement successfully the Decree 31 as issued by Prime Minister and make best achievements for reaching the target for 2001-2005 period and aiming at marking the 7th National Emulation Congress and toward the Party Congress at all levels and the 10th National Party Congress.
