Thirty-two teams have begun competing in the final round of the 2019 Vietnam Robot Contest (Robocon Vietnam), which opened in the northern province of Hai Duong on May 7.
On the first day of the round, which lasts until May 12, 12 matches of Groups A and B took place.
The 32 teams come from technical universities and colleges nationwide. After the last round, the strongest team will represent Vietnam at the ABU Asia-Pacific Robot Contest (ABU Robocon) in Mongolia in August.
The 2019 Robocon promotes the idea of “Sharing the knowledge” initiated by host Mongolia, with its content inspired by the Urtuu system, first innovated by the nomadic Mongolians for exchanging information over long distances, and by Mongolian folk game Shagai, during which players flick animal ankle bones at a target.
Robocon Vietnam has been held annually by the Vietnam Television (VTV) since 2002.
The ABU Robocon was founded in 2002 by the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union. At the event, robots from participating teams compete to complete a task within a set period of time.
Vietnam has triumphed at the ABU Robocon seven times. The championships were claimed by Ho Chi Minh City University of Science and Technology in 2002, 2004 and 2006, while Lac Hong University won in 2014, 2017, and 2018, and Hung Yen University of Technology and Education took the title in 2015.
