The Vietnamese team has won the first prize of the WhiteHat Grand Prix 2017 international Cybersecurity contest.
This year’s contest took place in Hanoi on December 16-17 was jointly held by the Vietnamese Ministry of Information and Communications’ Authority of Information Security and BKAV Corporation.
The CLGTftMeePwn team achieved 7,211 points, ranking first. It was followed by the team 217 from Taiwan with 6,111 points, the US’s team Dogfish with 4,611 points. The Taiwanese team 217 topped the contest in 2015 and 2016.
The winner of the contest is presented with VND225 million (USD10,000). The second and the third prize receives VND45 million (USD2,000) and VND25 million (USD1,000) respectively.
The WhiteHat Grand Prix 2017 attracted 452 teams from 62 countries and territories.
The teams were also tasked with answering questions related to Vietnamese heritage. A new feature of the challenges this year is that they were designed to estimate the overall expertise of each team as it necessary for security experts to raise their skills to address real-world problems.
