She was Trinh Thi Hong, director of Minh Hong Biotechnology Company based in Da Nang.
Hong’s washing liquid is made after a special process. It needs 3 kilograms of plant waste to create 2 liters of finished liquid. The waste is cleaned (tree leaves, vegetables, flowers and fruits) and cut it into 3 cm pieces. It is mixed with 10 kilograms of water and 300 grams of sugar and put in in a closed bucket for 30 days.
After that, 10 liters of raw liquid with yellow color can be collected. It is necessary to filter it, extract and incubate it for 45 more days with eggplant and turmeric to obtain the finished product, which is viscid and foamy with an aroma. It is effective and safe on skin.
Vu Thi Bich Hau, deputy director of the Da Nang Science & Technology Department, said that Hong has transferred the technology to poor women in the city, encouraging them to join the bio-liquid production chain. Hong’s company is responsible for the sales outlets of the products.
The city’s science department in 2015 supported Hong’s company to test pH level in the product and follow procedures to register a patent. The Da Nang People’s Committee decided to prop up VND100 million to help the company complete its research.
Hong said her products are now available at 42 sale agents throughout the country. One 450ml dish washing bottle is priced at VND25,000, while one 300ml floor cleaning bottle is sold for VND10,000. The bioproducts, after being used for washing, can be used to water plants.
The project on making washing liquid from plant waste has drawn special attention at domestic and international technological idea competitions.
The bioproduct was shown at the Science & Technology Forum held by MST in Da Nang, the conference to bridge the demand & supply held by MOIT and Techmart Hanoi 2016.
Hong, who now runs a biotechnology firm, has never attended any training course in the field.
Hong said she once brought dishwashing liquid to state management agencies to have its quality tested, but she could not state which substances the liquid was made of.
Later, she received support from a journalist and local authorities to file for registration for bioproduct protection.
