Vietnam rises on Global Innovation Index

Viet Nam climbed 19 places from last year to rank in 52nd out of 141 countries, on the 2015 Global Innovation Index (GII), the Ministry of Science and Technology said.

The Index was announced by the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), United States-based Cornell University and France-based INSEAD Business School.

Leading economies in the ranking include Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Sweden, the Netherlands and the United States.

Viet Nam came third in the Southeast Asia region this year, after Singapore and Malaysia.

Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Quan said this is the initial result of the country's renovation in management mechanism and scientific and technological activities in the past time.
