New momentum for scientific and technical contests and competitions

In recent years, the Youth and Children's Innovation Contest and the Dong Nai Provincial Technical Innovation Competition have attracted a large number of students, pupils, and people from all walks of life. From these 2 scientific and technical (S&T) playgrounds, many solutions have been applied in practice, demonstrating the practical effectiveness of S&T research, innovation, and application.

In 2026, the Dong Nai Union of Science and Technology Associations will continue to preside over the organization of the Youth and Children's Innovation Contest and the Dong Nai Provincial Technical Innovation Competition. With a larger provincial scale and stronger resources, S&T contests and competitions are sure to achieve a strong impact, attract more participating solutions, and are expected to create new momentum for S&T research and application activities.

Innovation derived from practice

2025 is the 8th year of the Technical Innovation Competition and the 10th year of the Dong Nai Provincial Youth and Children's Innovation Contest. Over the past 10 years, these contests and competitions have continuously developed in both the quantity and quality of participating solutions. For many consecutive years, Dong Nai province has been commended by the Organizing Committee of the National Youth and Children's Innovation Contest for its organization of the contest.

For the Technical Innovation Contest, many award-winning solutions from the province were selected to participate at the national level and have been included in the Vietnam Creative Golden Book. It is noteworthy that many solutions were applied in practice before the contest, bringing practical effectiveness in professional, production, and business activities at the unit.

Vivid examples include: the solution "Application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to build a model for early detection of common diseases on cassava plants in the Southeast region" by a group of authors from the Hung Loc Agricultural Experimental Research Center. With this application, cassava farmers only need to use a smartphone to take photos and receive almost instant diagnoses of common diseases on cassava plants without complex skills. The application is evaluated as fast, objective, and highly accurate, eliminating delays and the subjectivity of visual observation, and not relying on personal experience. As a result, cassava growers can detect diseases early, intervene promptly, and reduce crop damage.

Or the solution "Water-based coating to replace Polyethylene plastic on paper" by Nguyen Anh Cuong from Green EcosyStem Production and Trading Co., Ltd. (in Long Binh ward). This solution helps reduce environmental pollution, limit difficult-to-decompose waste in the environment, support the circular economy, and make the packaging industry truly "green" from design to recycling.

In the area of former Binh Phuoc province, Doan Quang Trong, Deputy General Director of Binh Long Rubber One Member Co., Ltd., was previously considered a " prolific innovator". Trong has developed many solutions that were submitted to technical innovation contests and win provincial and national awards. These solutions have all been applied in the company's production practice, bringing economic efficiency to the unit. Examples include solutions such as: Determining the the total solid content (TSC) of rubber liquid latex by microwave; Automatically controlling the daytime and nighttime lighting system using a sensor system to save electricity...

According to Trong, about 70% of the research solutions have been applied in the unit's production practice. Participating in the Technical Innovation Contest helps him and his colleagues have the opportunity to learn more. Winning an award is a spiritual encouragement and motivation for the company's employees to continue participating in S&T research.

According to the assessment of the Organizing Committee of the Dong Nai Provincial Technical Innovation the Technical Innovation Contest, the event has reached a large number of people, with individuals and private enterprises investing in very methodical research, with high scientific content and wide applicability. Many topics and initiatives were highly appreciated for their feasibility and have been applied in actual production and life, contributing to improving labor productivity and work efficiency. Through the application of initiatives, the contest has contributed to solving many practical problems, supporting production development, environmental protection, and improving people's lives.

The fields of both science and technology contest and competitive festival fully reflect the urgent requirements of reality, and at the same time create conditions for scientists, engineers, intellectuals, entrepreneurs, students, and those passionate about creativity to maximize their intelligence, experience, and new ideas. This is not only an intellectual playground but also a forum for all strata of people, especially the younger generation, to promote new ideas, aspirations for innovation, and a spirit of dedication to their homeland and country.

New impetus for scientific and technical research and application

Through its multiple organization of science and technology contests and competitions, Dong Nai province has clearly affirmed the important role of scientific and technical research, creativity, and application activities for socio-economic development. At the same time, this is also a vivid testament to the potential, intelligence, and abundant creativity of all strata of people in the province.

In 2026, the Provincial Union of Science and Technology Associations (in its role as the Standing Agency of the Organizing Board of science and technology contests and competitions) will continue to coordinate with departments, agencies, mass organizations, and localities in the province to organize these two important intellectual playgrounds.

Educational institutions, units, and businesses actively encourage students, staff, employees, and workers to research and propose feasible initiatives and solutions to serve learning, life, and production and business.
