Staying focused on emulation campaign to advance socio-economic development

On June 1, Nguyen Van Ut, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee (CPC) and Chairman of the Dong Nai People’s Committee, chaired the City People’s Committee’s regular meeting for May 2026. The meeting was attended by Vice Chairpersons of the City People’s Committee, along with leaders of departments, agencies and units under the municipal People’s Committee.

According to the report, Dong Nai maintained positive socio-economic momentum during the first five months of the year. The industrial and construction sectors, agriculture and forestry, and services all posted year-on-year growth. As of May 29, state budget revenue had reached VND48.8 trillion, equivalent to 49% of the assigned target. Meanwhile, foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows totaled nearly USD1.4 billion by May 22. Infrastructure projects across the city are also being accelerated toward completion.

Alongside economic development, the city has continued to direct and oversee a broad range of sectors, including culture, education, healthcare, science and technology, digital transformation, labor, employment and social welfare.

Notably, since April 30, Dong Nai has officially attained city status, reinforcing its role as one of the country’s leading economic growth engines. However, sustaining growth and living up to the city’s new standing will require timely identification and effective resolution of emerging bottlenecks and challenges.

During the meeting, participants reviewed achieved results, examined existing bottlenecks and implementation challenges within their respective sectors, and proposed measures to address them.

Concluding the meeting, Chairman Nguyen Van Ut commended departments, agencies and units for their recent efforts, particularly in preparing conditions for Dong Nai’s official recognition as a city, as well as organizing activities before and after the announcement ceremony marking the establishment of Dong Nai City.

The Chairman stressed that the targets of achieving double-digit growth and striving for VND150 trillion in state budget revenue are critically important, requiring the entire city to stay focused and make determined efforts.

He called for accelerated disbursement of public investment capital, stressing that from June onward, progress must be demonstrated through tangible outcomes in each project and backed by clear performance indicators. Projects and units showing little substantive improvement in capital disbursement could face funding cuts, with resources redirected to better-performing entities. Funding is already in place; what matters now is investment readiness, clearly defined implementation schedules for each phase and the entire fiscal year, and timely disbursement based on those plans. He described this as an important lesson for shaping next year’s public investment portfolio.

Chairman Nguyen Van Ut further noted that Dong Nai has launched the 500-day-and-night campaign under the theme “Solidarity – Discipline – Efficiency – Breakthrough, building a civilized and modern Dong Nai.” Against this backdrop, he called on departments, agencies and units to overhaul their thinking and working approaches in order to remain closely aligned with core priorities.

He also urged departments and agencies to demonstrate strong resolve in fulfilling the targets and tasks assigned by the CPC, while avoiding excessive focus on routine and ad hoc administrative matters. Only through sustained attention to strategic priorities, he noted, can implementation schedules be met effectively.
