Since April 30, 2026, the National Assembly’s resolution on the establishment of Dong Nai City has officially taken effect, marking a significant turning point that opens a new development phase for the locality on its path toward becoming a modern, civilized, green and sustainable urban center.

Alongside a sense of excitement, women’s unions at all levels, members and women across the City have shown a clear awareness of both opportunities and challenges, while actively preparing themselves to adapt to the new stage of development.

Opportunities accompanied by challenges

Bui Thi Hanh, Vice Chairwoman of the Dong Nai City Women’s Union, noted that women are increasingly affirming their important roles both within the family and in society. Not only are they the keepers of family well-being, but they also actively participate in economic, political, cultural and social activities, making meaningful contributions to local development.

Notably, many women have taken the initiative to pursue further education and improve their qualifications in order to meet new demands. They have engaged in leadership and management roles within agencies, organizations and enterprises, while also participating actively in emulation movements and community activities, gradually strengthening their position across various aspects of social life.

With their dynamism, adaptability and sensitivity to change, women are expected to benefit significantly from Dong Nai’s transition into a city. In particular, they will gain greater access to high-quality labor markets, especially in sectors such as services, technology, finance and logistics linked to major projects.

Meanwhile, living conditions are set to improve alongside the development of modern infrastructure, education, healthcare and social services, enabling women to develop comprehensively in both knowledge and health. Moreover, the dynamic urban environment creates favorable conditions for women to start businesses, access resources, expand cooperation and increase income.

Beyond economic gains, the process of urbanization also contributes to promoting gender equality and expanding opportunities for women to participate in social activities, governance and leadership. As a result, women in Dong Nai are not only enhancing their own status but also making important contributions to the city’s sustainable development in the future.

However, Pham Thi Duyen, Vice Chairwoman of the Thong Nhat commune Fatherland Front Committee and Chairwoman of the commune Women’s Union, pointed out that rapid urbanization also places higher demands on qualifications, professional skills and the ability to adapt to technology and digital transformation. Those lacking access to education and training may face difficulties, or even risk being left behind.

In addition, the “double burden” of balancing work and family responsibilities remains a major challenge, as women continue to play dual roles in both economic participation and family care. In this context, the requirement for women is clear: they must proactively adapt and continuously enhance their capabilities.

Proactively adapting to urban environment

According to Bui Thi Hanh, to effectively adapt and contribute to Dong Nai City’s development, women need to prepare themselves in multiple aspects. Each individual should take the initiative to learn, master technology, and improve digital capacity and professional skills, thereby gradually integrating into modern working environments.

In parallel, women are encouraged to reshape their mindset and urban lifestyle by embracing discipline, creativity and resilience, complying with the law, and maintaining appropriate behavior both online and in social life. At the same time, they should continue to play a central role in developing family economies and building happy families, laying a foundation for sustainable urban growth.

Pham Thi Duyen emphasized that beyond knowledge and skills, women need to cultivate a proactive, confident mindset and a willingness to change. Hesitation, complacency or fear of failure can become major barriers in the integration process. Conversely, with determination and confidence in their abilities, women will be better positioned to seize opportunities and affirm their role in society.

Each woman should continuously learn, enhance knowledge, master technology and embrace change to adapt to the new environment, while preserving and promoting the traditional values of Vietnamese women, thereby contributing to building Dong Nai into a modern city rich in identity.

For women’s organizations, the transition of Dong Nai into a city also presents both opportunities and challenges to enhance their role in supporting members. This requires innovation in management and operational approaches to better meet the diverse needs of women, while also demanding that union officials continuously improve their professionalism, knowledge and skills.

Looking ahead, women’s unions across the City will focus on key solutions, including accelerating digital transformation in union activities; providing training in digital skills, vocational skills and entrepreneurship; and developing sustainable livelihood models by helping women access capital, science and technology, and value chains, while promoting the digital economy and e-commerce.

In addition, efforts will be made to build a safe and civilized living environment for women and children, while strengthening supervision and social feedback roles to ensure that women’s voices are heard in policymaking and in the implementation of urban development policies.
