In recent days, residents across Dong Nai have expressed strong excitement and anticipation that the province will soon be elevated to a centrally governed city. Dao Nguyen, former member of the Provincial Party Committee, former Chairwoman of Dong Nai Women’s Union, and former Chairwoman of the Dong Nai Association for Victims of Agent Orange/dioxin:

High expectations for Dong Nai to develop even further

Amid the news that Dong Nai is moving toward centrally governed city status and that several communes may be upgraded to wards, I feel truly delighted. In my view, Dong Nai fully deserves such recognition. Naturally, once becoming a city, the development benchmarks will be higher. I believe Dong Nai will continue to grow more robustly, in line with its new status.

Dang Quoc Nghi, Chairman of the Dong Nai Young Entrepreneurs Association:

Hopes for continued improvement of investment and business environment

The prospect of Dong Nai becoming a city reflects the shared aspirations of local residents, including the business community, particularly young entrepreneurs. Major projects such as Long Thanh International Airport, seaports, expressways and inter-regional ring roads are laying a solid foundation to enhance the province’s standing. This, in turn, opens up opportunities to attract high-quality investment and foster high-tech industries alongside modern services.

From the perspective of business community, we hope the investment and business environment will continue to be improved in a transparent and flexible manner. Young entrepreneurs also seek greater participation in key economic sectors, including the digital and green economy, thereby contributing to the transformation of the growth model. Moreover, improving human resource quality and strengthening regional connectivity remain essential conditions for achieving development goals.

Lee Wei Chun, Chairwoman of the Taiwan Business Association in Dong Nai:

Dong Nai promises to become a hub for high-quality FDI inflows

Having invested in Dong Nai for more than 30 years, we have witnessed its continuous progress. Its  elevation to a centrally governed city is expected to create a strong boost, enabling the locality to fully tap its potential and advantages in the coming period. This would position Dong Nai as a hub for high-tech industries, attracting high-quality foreign direct investment (FDI) and contributing significantly to the state budget while improving residents’ quality of life.

Once the city status is achieved, Dong Nai’s transport infrastructure is expected to become more synchronized, with the development of modern, green and sustainable urban areas, as well as stronger connectivity with major cities in the southern key economic region.

I personally along with Taiwanese enterprises always expect Dong Nai to emerge as a new growth pole. The province is also well-positioned to advance high-tech industries, promoting green and circular economic models, and accelerating urbanization, while reinforcing its role as a new international transit gateway.

Venerable Thich Nu Dieu Tri, Alternate member of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, Deputy Head of the Dong Nai Provincial Buddhist Sangha:

A source of pride and happiness for local people

The news that Dong Nai has met the criteria to be recognized as a centrally governed city has brought happiness and pride to residents, including members of the Buddhist community.

Upon becoming a city, Dong Nai will gain more opportunities and favorable conditions for socio-economic development, thereby enhancing both cultural and spiritual life for its residents. I expect Dong Nai to grow further and contribute more significantly to national development.

Notably, this joyful news coincides with preparations for the first Congress of the Dong Nai Provincial Buddhist Sangha for the 2026–2031 term, the first since the establishment of the new Dong Nai province. Under the guiding principle of “Dharma – Nation – Socialism,” the Provincial Buddhist Sangha hopes to continue receiving support from local authorities, enabling it to contribute more actively to the city’s future development.

Artist Dao Tan Hung, member of the Fine Arts Committee under the Dong Nai Literature and Arts Association:

Greater attention to community-based arts

The information that Dong Nai has met the criteria for centrally governed city status has brought excitement to the public, including artists and writers. This milestone not only marks a new stage of development but also opens up fresh opportunities for cultural and artistic life.

I hope that, once becoming a centrally governed city, Dong Nai will place greater emphasis on planning creative spaces, investing in public art, developing cultural institutions and promoting community-oriented artistic activities. In addition, more supportive mechanisms for young artists are needed to facilitate creation, exhibition and public engagement. It is because when art is nurtured in the right direction, Dong Nai will not only develop rapidly and sustainably but also cultivate a distinctive cultural identity within the broader national cultural landscape.

Priest Nguyen Phuoc Hung, Parish Priest of Tay Hai Parish (Long Binh ward), Diocese of Xuan Loc:

Well-designed planning expected to ensure a green, sustainable living space

With Dong Nai aiming to become a centrally governed city and several communes set to be upgraded to wards, I strongly believe this will mark a significant stride for the locality. The new status will create favorable conditions for further investment in transport, healthcare, education and public services, thereby improving people’s quality of life.

I also hope that urban planning will be implemented in a systematic manner, ensuring green and sustainable living spaces while preserving local identity. It is equally important that all residents benefit from these developments.

Nguyen Thi Thuy Anh, a resident from Loc Tan border commune:

Greater attention paid to essential services to benefit residents

Knowing that Dong Nai is oriented toward becoming a centrally governed city and that many communes will be upgraded to wards, I feel optimistic about positive changes in the near future. As a resident in a border area, I particularly hope that my hometown will gain better conditions for development and that people’s livelihoods will continue to improve.

I look forward to more convenient transport, stable electricity and water supply, and better access to essential services so that residents can feel secure in developing their own economy. People in border areas like myself are always ready to join hands with authorities to build a more developed, civilized and sustainable homeland.
